A Poem Before Iceland

I fly out to Iceland tomorrow and really my emotions are running too high to write much.
I woke this morning with the words ‘you are gone and I am wounded’ running through my head.
I am no more a poet than I writer but decided to let the words out.
So here they are;

My Own Precious Scar

You are gone
And I am wounded
And this will ever be
The bleeding ebbs
And often flows
I have no control
I’ll tend my wound
I will be kind
And try to help it heal
As fresh skin forms
And knits it’s story
I shall share the pain
You are gone
And I am wounded
And this will ever be
But what you’ve left
Will remain forever
My own precious scar

So many bad things seem to be happening around me at the moment; friends getting sick, friends of friends getting sick, relatives of friends getting sick and pets getting sick.
I am not the only one whose strength is being tested. I realise more than ever how much it is important to support and love each other.
So I will sign off wishing you heartfelt love, health and happiness. Please look after each other.

Time to pack. x

I now mainly write on my new blog; An Adventurous Girl. I would love it if you would join me there by clicking here.
